Difficulty accessing Internet through virtual wifi (emitted by my laptop) on my phone.

Hello,

I have recently succeeded in enabling the Wireless Network Connection 2 through Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter, but I have no internet access on my phone when I connect to the wifi network.

I have followed all the instructions indicated in this webpage: http://www.wikihow.com/Enable-a-Virtual-WiFi-in-Windows
But unfortunately, I still don't have access to internet on my phone.

Yes, I have correctly entered the SSID and password onto my phone to access the network and I would like to clarify that the problem isn't with the connection of the phone onto the wifi network but it is the inability of my phone getting access to internet through ICS.

Each time I try to connect to the internet through the phone's web browser, it will say that the connection has timed-out.

I am currently using a Samsung S3 (GT-I9300). The problem isn't with the phone browser because I cannot even get internet on any other phone apps (Facebook, Gmail, etc.).
What I do not understand is that I have already activated internet sharing in the Sharing Tab (Control Panel), and I still could not get access to internet on my phone (My laptop has internet). I may add that I have correctly shared my local area connection to my Wireless Network Connection 2 (virtual wifi).

I have also cleared the phone browser's cache, but still no internet connection.

Please ask for whatever additional information to help me solve this problem as I do not know which information is relevant. Any help will be very much appreciated as I have scoured numerous websites to try to troubleshoot the problem but to no avail.

Thank you in advance.

In Connectify it specifically asks you if you want Internet sharing and makes an appropriate exception to the Windows firewall. Not sure what the others did, so you would have to check manually.

Ad hoc networks work great to other computers.

While it is *possible* to use an ad hoc Windows wireless signal to connect wireless phones, Android phones are easiest to connect if you buy an inexpensive program for your PC called Connectify -- the setup literally takes two minutes and your phones will immediately detect the signal as with any other wifi source.

They have a trial period so that you can insure it works for your needs before purchase -- look HERE.

I spent a lot of time messing with rooting mine and creating other issues before going with Connectify.

Hello RealBeast,

I have tried a few virtual Internet rendering software and all of them comes down to the same thing: I have wifi connection on my phone, but no Internet access. These software are just GUI for the cmd console commands aren't they?
I think that there might be another program/firewall that is blocking the phone from accessing Internet, what's your opinion?

Thanks.
