Hey guys so yesterday I was building my 1st custom built PC ever, after an hour everything is working as it should except for the fact that if I plugged in 6-pin external power supply into my R9 270, the computer wouldn't boot no matter what. But if I plugged it out it boots without problem, checked BIOS and everything other than GPU is regcognized and running properly.

I have to temporarily use the onboard integrated graphic until find a fix, here's my system spec

CPU Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core
Motherboard ASRock Z97 PRO3 ATX LGA1150
Memory G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card PowerColor Radeon R9 270 2GB TurboDuo
Case Corsair SPEC-03 White ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply XFX 550W ATX12V / EPS12V

I can assure that it is not the PSU who doesn't have sufficent power since R9 270 only consumes the maximum power of 150W. Note that everything's working without the GPU installed and also it came brand new out of the box so I doubt it'd be defective.
(By not booting I mean the PC is just dead silent, no beep/fan/LED whatsoever.)

Thanks guys,

No 270 only requires one 6 pin connector (270x has 2 though). I checked the connectors dozen times, only 1 6-pin cable coming from the power supply is needed. I tried power on my PC without the vga, then plugged in the 6-pin then it immediately shut down.

Also I did update the bios to the latest version but no luck. And yes I did plug in HDMI cable to the graphic card, but even if I didn't, it would still boot past bios wouldnt it?

Wow just realized my dumbest mistake ever. Accidentally plugged PCI-E connector upside down that's the reason this wouldn't boot the whole time.

PSU works, GPU works. No RMA needed. Thanks guys for answering
