Hey guys, I'm getting ready to order up some ram for my new build, and am just having a hard time choosing between these. I don't know if the extra $50 is worht the lower latency, especially if its a lower speed. But then again, I'm not that educated on the workings of memory and could really use some help. Im also concerned about the ram modules actually fitting under cooler. They will be used with a 5930k and asus x-99 A and h100i. Main uses - gaming, making games, music production, coding.

Crucial Ballistix Sport 2400 Cas latency 16 - $200

Gskill Ripjaws 4 2133 Cas latency 15 $250

AIO water coolers (like the Corsair H100i) usually does not pose a problem for mounting RAM. It's those humongous air coolers that overhang the RAM slots. :) Even then, on ATX motherboards, the problem is less than on smaller form factors such as the mini-ITX and micro-ATX boards.

As for speeds and feeds, I doubt that outside of a benchmark you will be able to observe a measurable difference. Go with the cheaper RAM if you want to save $50 and the more expensive RAM if you prefer the color or want bragging rights. :)

I will tell you that I really like G.Skill as a memory vendor and have built almost exclusively with their RAM since 2011.

I'm going to take my time and think about it... I wouldn't mind the color, as I'm going with this case http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811108127 and i tend to favor the black and red theme (my keyboard has cherry red switched and the wasd have been replaced with red arrow keys :) ) ... although my logitech mouse has a blue led and blue accent :(... got a little sidetrackthere... thanks much for the help!

DDR4-2133 CL15 has higher latency than DDR4-2400 CL16, because the CAS latency (CL) is measured in clock cycles that are shorter at higher clocks.

With DDR4-2400 CL16, the CAS latency is 13.33ns, with DDR4-2133 CL15, the CAS latency is 14.07ns. For reference, standard DDR3-1600 CL9 has CAS latency of 11.25ns.
