Will system restore delete personal files like my documents etc. ?

Cant boot Windows with boot file missing. Cant backup data via system restore to use system restore. Will using system restore affect my personal files such as my documents etc. or just restore the windows files?

I am in the situation of not able to back up the hard drive in use and needing to repair the boot files (cant use F8 and repair disc for some reason) using a recovery disc.

Any help will be appreciated.

The best chance that you have to save the documents is to do a repair installation of 7 like THIS.

Download a Windows 7 disk image from the authorized online distributor (at no cost) from HERE and burn it to a DVD or make a USB installer stick using THIS TOOL and instructions.

Just be sure to download the same version that your authentication key is for -- usually you can find that on the Windows 7 sticker on your machine.
