Just bought a new motherboard and cpu and I'm only getting a little flicker of power. Barely a second.

Title says it all. Only a flicker of power and any help is useful!
750 watt power supply
Intel core i7-4790K cpu
Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H-BK black edition motherboard
Evga GeForce 770 gpu

I did check the if the motherboard and cpu are compatable and they are both LGA1150

It looks like a short. Try testing the board outside the case (on its cardboard).

Have you tried breadboarding it? To do that you need to take the motherboard and PSU out of the case and put them on cardboard And you need to plug your power supply into the motherboard and turn it on. You can power on by taking a screwdriver and touching the power switch pins together. You should also connect your monitor if it's within reach. If that still doesn't work you may have a DOA motherboard.

The mobo and cpu maybe compatible but the mobo has to have the right BIOS on it to support the CPU

Rev 1 of this mobo needs BIOS F5

Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz 8MB 350 MHz / 1250 MHz Haswell Refresh 22nm C0 88W 100 F5

Rev 1.1 needs F5

See if it says F something bottom left on the mobo somewhere

By the BIOS chip then or anywhere on the mobo? Or is there anything on the sticker on the box saying what BIOS is on it now?

Is there a sticker on the mobo with something like a BIOS version?

Bios chips labeled b_bios and m_bios there's nothing by those and on the box it says "patented dual bios (Uefi design)

k. Well We dont know what BIOS is on it then.

Would be nice, if other mobo manufacturer's did what ASUS do. The BIOS version is on a sticker on the mobo.
