Is using different brands of RAM okay?

I'm building a new computer, and I'm reusing some parts from my old HP pavillion.
The main part I want to reuse is the RAM, which I had 8GB of.

I then realised that I actually had another 8GB from an old computer in my basement.

The RAM sticks are the same size, and the same speed, but different brands. Will it cause issues in my computer, or can I have 16GB of RAM in my new computer?

Regards,

Johnny

So long as the frequency and timings are the same I don't see why not. Even if frequency is different, it will usually just slow down the faster ram to the speed of the slower. It has been known to cause issue in some cases, but works in others.

I'm currently running 4 sticks, 2x2gb geil evo and 2x2gb patriot and their timings are close but not perfect. It defaulted to the loosest timings and is running at 600mhz (3:2 ratio) at 5-5-5-15 and playing nice with each other.

Edit: sorry, should mention it's ddr2 since the timings may seem odd for ddr3 lol
