so i installed my gigabyte gtx 970s today and im getting horrible framerates.

Far Cry 4 on all ultra is averaging 30-35 fps

battlefield 4 also averaging around 30-40 fps.

My old 760 was pretty much out performing them.

My SLI overlay says SLI is enabled and all of my GPU monitoring software detects 2 970s.

I would appreciate any feedback.

rig:
i5 3570k
2 gtx 970's SLI
EVGA NEX 750B power supply
8g DDR5 ram (2x4)
antec kuhler 620 liquid cooling CPU heatsink
1 SSD
1 5000RPM WD green HD

Solution

you got a faulty card and the manufacturer was shitty to you on the phone doesn't mean that it was AMD's fault...

AMD is just a chip designer.. your manufacturer who produced a bad card was shitty to you.. and you are...

ive fixed the frame rate issue but now i get 130 frames in BF4 and around 80-90 in farcry 4. Thats what i should be getting with 1 card.

When i turn off SLI i get the EXACT same frame rate in both games.

at 3.5 stock clock it did bottleneck a little.. but after i reached an overclock of 3.9 the bottleneck was gone.... i keep it at 4.1 ..just in case

i have paired it with my friends r9 295x2 ... it was bottlenecking a lot.. but when i overclocked it to 4.5 .. it was gone..

fx processors are great overclockers

Who the fuck told you s single 970 gets 130 frames in bf4 and 90 frames in farcry 4??? Were you joking? ..................

I'm running 2x 7970 ghz vapor-x @ 1200/6100 they pull in graphics scores of 24,000+ on 3dmark11, my i5-4670k is running @ 4.8 and id be lucky to get those framerates at ultra settings 1080p, if you indeed are, it seems both 970's are working very well...

Only wish I had a better motherboard to overclock my 8320 :(

yeah ,a good quality motherboard is the key... for an 8 core, you will need a proper 6 or 8 phase vrm atleast

you should be careful.. that mobo is solid , dont get me wrong but the vrm doesnt have a heatsink.... not safe for an 8 core...you will risk burning the mobo...

you could push a 4 core or maybe if lucky a 6 core

Ok, so I have noticed in almost all of my games my CPU usage is always in the area of 85-98%. When it jumps up to the 90s is when i've noticed the lag spikes and the stuttering. I have an i5 3570k Ivy Bridge OC'd at 44MHz. Could the issue be my Ivy Bridge is having trouble working with my two gtx 970s in SLI?

its exactly not the case.. to be honest nvidia have always had optimisation and instability issues with WOW ... more on the sli

there is very little you can do... you can google for solutons if you like

Yeah. The ASRock 970 Extreme 3 is the same board just has VRM heatsinks. People with that board can oc this cpu to 4.0Ghz, others with mine put fans on top of the vrms and can also oc to 4.0Ghz. Do they sell VRM heatsinks like the ones that come with aftermarket VGA coolers? The individual ones?

there are tiny differences.. like digi power vrm for better overclocking

anyways you can look into ebay
http://www.ebay.com/bhp/mosfet-heatsink

or amazon
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=MOSFET%20Heatsink

copper is always good... remember that mosfet cooling is passive so you should have good case airflow

Any ideas why on a game like Crysis 3 my CPU sits at 96% and my GPU sits at 50%?
