My specs are
Mobo- F2A88XM-HD3
CPU- A10-6800k
8gb DDR3 1300mhz(I think)
GPU- 750ti 2gb DDR5 ram
1tb hdd
500w power supply (horrible)
some terrible case.

I want to upgrade, first I'm going for a SSD and a new PSU (Mine grinds as i turn it on, i have to turn it off and tilt it to stop) I know its bad.
Then I was thinking about getting a new motherboard and CPU, would AMD FX-8320 with a budget AM3+ mobo be a good idea, so when I upgrade my graphics card my CPU won't bottleneck my system, and neither will the hard drive. It would cost me around £160 for the new motherboard and CPU, and £90 for the power supply and SSD.

I would really appreciate any help.

I would skip the SSD and put that towards a Intel i5 and budget motherboard.
You can add a SSD anytime the processor and motherboard is harder to replace because of the price.
People should really forget about the term bottlenecking for a mid range PC their always will be one some where it's not like your buying a 50 dollar processor and a 800 buck video card.

Is it not worth getting a really good 8-core AMD CPU?
I really appreciate the help

Actually we were not talking about overclocking you got to overclock a AMD processor up to around 4.6 just to get the stink out.

Not really, even at 4.0Ghz it is still a viable option. You said it's not even close, and that's not true. I have a 2500k myself...

Most games can't take full advantage of the eight "core" 8320, so the i5 would be a better choice for gaming.

So that i5 and motherboard would work well with the GTX 960 when it comes out?

That motherboard uses old tech not something I would consider when building a new PC the board I listed above is micro also if yu wish for a little faster processor pair it with a 4690. But the processor I listed turbos up to 3.7 and is a good processor.
