I have overclocked gigabyte x58a ud3r and Rampage formula 3. No problems using bios. I now have MSI x99S SLI Plus and the i7 5930K cpu. Water cooled. Water temp always at 40 F. I go into bios and try to change the cpu ratio but the bios will not let me. I go into the MSI Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and this will not let me change the cpu ratio unless I open the MSI Command Center and click the OC Genie. Then I can change the CPU ratio inside the Extreme Tuning Utility. I reboot but then the settings are gone.
Ok the question. How can I change the CPU ratio/multiplier and the CPU voltage inside the Bios like I use to. I double click on the Cpu ratio bios line but nothing happens to allow me to do anything.

Ok the problem above is solved but now:
I7 5930K cpu, 3 Radeon R9 290X 3 monitors 5760X1080 res. 120 Hz.

What I came across:

I changed my core clock from 100 to 101, 102, 167 and all worked with no problem. I used CPU-Z and it confirmed my settings took. I tried new settings and then started to crash, no booting. Until I changed my core clock to 100. Then no problems.I addjusted the core anything above 100clock and no boot. I tried to remember my original settings (I did not save them). I even tried 100.04. With no boot.

I am making sure my ram is equal to or under it's rated speed. 2400 MHz.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Ok, No reply from anyone. Well if you push enough buttons you eventually will get the right combination. I do not know how I got the CPU ratio to un-grey itself but when it did I finally was able to do my overclocking as I wanted to do in the first place. All the overclocking features unlocked and now all is good. I wish I new what did it so I cold post it for anyone who needed this information could get it. But sadly not from this post.

Well I have easily overclocked my cpu to 4.6 GHz with 1.36 volts. I am now going to start working my volts down and see how low I can get it.

How did you even get access to the core voltage? It is all grayed out for me.

I am at work right now. When I get home I will look over my bios settings.

Are you using the bios or the software that came with the motherboard.

One thing I believe, is that the two buttons in your bios, top left corner need to be off. One is for that automatic Overclock option and I think the other might have something to do with the ram.

When I get home tonight I will try to post all my settings.

I have to apologize. I had intended to post my settings last night. I ran into an unexpected time consuming situation. I am at work again. I will try tonight.

One thing to try with your problem with the core voltage. Use the up/down arrow keys to bring your cursor over the voltage location and then leaving the cursor there press the +/- keys. That should allow you to increase/decrease your voltage.

Here are my settings:
OC Genie: Off
XMP: Off
Execute Disable Bit: Disabled
Intel C-State: Disabled
Limit CPUID Maximum: Disabled
Intel-CState
CPU Core Voltage 1.34
CPU SA Voltage Mode: (Manual Mode)
Ram Base Clock: 266
and some other settings for ram.

Other than that everything is default.

I did confirm about adjusting the cpu. Use your arrow keys and get the blue bar over the cpu voltage and then press the +/- keys. or type in the voltage you want.

I am using a serious water cooling system so my temps will be way different than yours. Watch your temps. My temps never hit 40C.

If anyone would not mind please share if you are able to adjust your core clock for the cpu. I can adjust it but anything that is different from default my computer will not boot.

Ok, I would never have had thought of this. But, I went from an Antec 1200 watt power supply to the Corsair AX1500i and now I can change the buss speed and it does not crash the computer.

A cleaner and more powerful power supply was the answer.

Well, I have not done to much since the last time I posted. It has been a little crazy around here. But I did a little with my gpu's. Just went form 1140 to 1148; stable using OCCT, Heaven Benchmark, and BF4 for about 1.5 hour of play time without stopping. I did try to increase my FSB to 167 but so far no luck. do I need to increase my FSB and will it give me a performance increase. I really do not think so. I do it for kicks. I did forget to mention. I did lower my RAM multipliers. I do not have the numbers off of my head though. But as you know they are very dependent on the brand and sticks from that brand. So I doubt anyone would like to know them. If you do just give me a shout and I will post them.

Results:
CPU: I have not tried to push past the 4.6 yet.
FSB: I went from 100 to 126, so far.
All three GPU cards: From +40 to +63 Core Voltage.
Core Clock: 1130 to 1148MHz

Nice, sorry I missed this post and reply . Finally found it again. I am running a stability test on mine around 4.0. Any chance I can see you do a video of this? Or have you seen on yet?

I was able to set base clock to 125.03.
Bios is 1.10 or 1.A as they call it.
PCH : 1.15V instead of 1.05
XMP for memory, to make it 3000
CPU Core V: 1.25
Ratio: 36
=45 Ghz
CPU Base clock apply mode : During Boot
Dram: 1.33V
And I increased the cpu fan in hw monitor to cool it all more.
My PSU is 500W Evga

DDR4 timing:
Auto (2)
Auto (15)
15
15
31
310

Memory fast boot: disabled
SA Voltage Mode : Offset Mode
I disagree with Disabling C-States.

MSI Command Center shows
Ring Volt Offset RED: 0.3050
SA Volt Offs RED: 0.5
SA is actually higher than it used to be at 0.30

Thanks for posting your settings. It has been awhile since I have played around with overclocking. But I do use the computer a lot with it overclocked, so for long term use I can say I never burnt anything up.

I am going to check out your settings. Thanks for inspiring me to play around with this stuff again.
