My current favorite ones so far are the lightning from msi or the tri-X from sapphire

Not gonna follow all those links but I would advise you to forget about the TriXX card. They originally used high quality Elpida memory and they were coveted by miners. But later iterations used cheaper memory and people were experiencing issues. The msi card sounds good.

I would definitely consider Nvidia. The new GTX 970 is more powerful, runs at much cooler temps, and uses less power. It's also at the same price point as the 290x ($350), so there really is no reason not to get it.

I'm just not gaming and what I do is crippled if I use nvidia, that is why I said no nvidia, get it?
