Hi all!

I built a computer circa 2003, and I'm wondering if I'd be best served to upgrade my GPU, or start from scratch. The SSD was added a couple years ago, and my original psu died.

I play a bit of D3, and my current system is quite choppy at times. I'm not sure if this is GPU, CPU or internet related. I don't need a screaming gaming PC, but I want D3 to run well, load quickly etc.

Current system:
GPU: EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS
CPU: core 2 duo 6600
Motherboard: Asus P5
PSU: Antec EA-750
SSD: Crucial M4
Memory: 2 GB Corsair ddr2-6400
Internet is Comcast 50mbps

Would a new GPU make me happy?

Would a $600-$1000 gaming PC be a noticeable improvement over my current setup?

Thanks for the expertise!

Yes, a 600$-1000$ gaming PC (including the Windows 8.1/7) would make a HUGE diffrence in terms of gaming.

Upgrading your GPU won't be a good idea, your other components will not be able to keep up with it :D

I don't know what D3 is (maybe Diablo3?) but if its the ONLY game you play, you may want to save a little bit of money and get a new GPU if thats GPU related.

Otherwise, for 1000$ you would be able to get a nice gaming pc.

EDIT: Building you a 1000$ PC.

Thanks for the quick feedback!

I'm married with kids...gone are the days of gaming for hours on end LOL. BUT, I still like to get my Diablo fix in from time to time. I don't really see myself getting into other games..but I guess you never know! Aside from some D3, I do photoshop, and then basic email/Microsoft office/browsing/iTunes etc.

I've become a boring old(ish) guy :(
