  1. Yes - the r7 240 will work on your strange motherboard - http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c01746799#N78

    which says -
    "Memory upgrade information:
    Four DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets
    Supports 2 GB DDR3 DIMMs
    Supports dual channel memory architecture
    Supported speeds:
    PC3-8500 @ 1066 MHz
    PC3-6400 @ 800 MHz
    Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
Supports up to 8 GB on 64-bit PCs
Supports up to 4 GB* on 32-bit PCs"

    So 1066 or 800 of ddr3 2 x 2gb or 4 x 2gb ram kit.
  2. So 1066 or 800 of ddr3 2 x 2gb or 4 x 2gb ram kit.

i'm sorry i still can't understand. Will both speeds work?
  3. Yes - but only one at a time. Get either 1066 or 800.

    Get either 2 x 2gb or 4 x 2gb. A kit. Not individual sticks.
  4. 2gb is not enough to run a pc these days. Especially if you want to use the internet or do gaming.

Even 4gb has problems at times.
  5. i alreay have 3gb and i can't put over 4gb cause of my motherboard
  6. If you have Windows 64 bit you can use 8gb.
  7. You said "I also want to upgrade my ram from 3gb to 4 but i don't know what mhz is"

With windows 32 bit you can only go to 4gb. That's what you should do.

Or better still, get windows 64 bit and use 8gb ram (2 x 4gb)
  8. No point in adding more ram, with a 32bit windows install, as the 4gb limit is shared with the graphics memory. Get on 64 bit Windows first, then get the ram. Your power supply will dictate what GPU you can use. I would want at least a GT 730, with GDDR5, like this one.

  9. something it's called money now please please answer to this question will this work on my mother board? yes or no?http://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-PC3-8500-Channel-240-Pin-Desktop/dp/B000XXUUXG/ref=sr_1_13?

  10. Check the ram configuration you have now. If it is 3x1gb, pull the stick that is by itself and get the numbers off of it, and try to find a matching stick. If it is 2gb and a 1gb stick, find the 2gb and buy a matching stick to that 2gb. Mixing ram brands can cause problems.
  11. ok i won't get ram cause you said Mixing ram brands can cause problems and i don't have a ton of money to buy 4gb of ram
  12. and i think i won't find the same sticks
  13. You should be able to find the same model number of ram, on ebay. I have done it for OEM rigs, such as yours before, hence my recommendation. ;) It should come out a bit cheaper that way as well, since you would only be buying a single stick of ram :D
  14. okay i will try it but other day cause i'm full of tests this week

Now that I think about it, CPU-Z should give you the model number and slot configuration for your ram as well. It should be under the SPD tab.
