I'm going to buy a new GPU, Sapphire Radeon R9 280X TRI-X 3GB GDDR5 11221-22-20G ($384,60) or EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC 4GB GDDR5 04G-P4-3774-KR ($537,28). I'm planning to SLI/Crossfire in the future (5/6 months) and I have a Corsair TX750 V2. So what's better for my PSU and if there is no difference, will the $152,68 difference worth?

Case: Corsair 200R with 4 cooler 12c
PSU: Corsair TX750 V2
MB: ASRock 990fx Extreme3
CPU: AMD FX-6300 stock cooler
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 2x4GB @1866MHz CL9
SSD: Corsair Force LS 120GB
HD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB
Bluray: 1 Drive

SLI/CF did not double the amount of VRAM for game to use. it is the limitation of the tech. for example if you use 2 770 4GB in SLI the game still only able to use up to 4GB VRAM and not 8GB VRAM.

970 power consumption is not any worse than 770 despite being faster than 770

regardless your CPU will bottleneck such system. also instead of investing with old card why not just get new card? the 900 series from nvidia will have full support for upcoming DirectX 12. 770 SLI will be faster but since you're not going to get the second card right away there could be problem acquiring the second card later since nvidia already EOL the production of GTX770 (as well as 780 and 780Ti) when they launch their 900 series.

the same goes with AMD 280X. rather than 280X it is better to get at least 290. because as being GCN 1.0 part the card will miss a lot of new feature. take FreeSync for example. in gaming (where the feature actually really needed) only GCN 1.1 card and above will get it. and with the upcoming driver AMD will feature new function to AMD gpu called VSR and from the leak slide only the 290s (GCN 1.1) and 285 (GCN 1.2) will have the feature.

I agree go with 970 and maybe upgrade to FX 8320/8350. If you can't afford CPU upgrade then maybe go with a slightly smaller GPU. What I don't agree with is getting a 290. Go with a R9 285, UNLESS you can upgrade CPU, then yes 290, but thats getting really expensive. So just to answer your question, Go with probably the 770 because the 280x is not GCN, GCN is kinda nice lol. BUTTTTTTT instead of the 770 go with 970, it has the performance of almost a friggen 780 ti and it is about the same price! :) I'm going to get a 970 and a 8320 and from what I see it does Battlefield 4 on ultra 1080p with around 90-100 FPS! (Wow!) (Disclaimer)

DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR GOSPEL, THIS IS MY OPINION AND WHAT I HAVE SEEN ON YOUTUBE, DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT HOLD ME RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS/FPS DROPS/ CRASHES/ BSOD/ ANYTHING OF THAT NATURE. I DO BELIEVE WHAT I HAVE SAID IS TRUE BUT I DO NOT GUARANTEE ANYTHING AT ALL.

The problem is my country and that I can pay max $600 atm. With the import taxes too high (example: If I import something with a value of $400, I'll pay $240 in taxes and I'm not counting shipping and shipping taxes). And the inside market is CRAZY.

Researching I found some:

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 (ZT-90101-10P) $549,63
GALAX GeForce GTX 970 OC 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 (GTX 970 OC) $563,38
Gigabyte GeForce GTX970 4GB GDDR5 256-Bit (GV-N970WF3OC-4GD) $571,04
Zogis GeForce GTX 970 4GB DDR5 256-Bit (GTX970-4GD5) $575,05
Power Color Amd Radeon R9 290 4gb GDDR5 512-Bit (AXR9 290 4GBD5-TDHE/OC) $589,82
Zogis GeForce GTX 970 Superclock 4GB DDR5 256-Bit (GTX970-4GD5SC) $594,57

I have a 4K TV and I don't wanna change my PSU this year, that's why I was going to SLI/Crossfire cuz I need memory. I use to watch movies and play some games. And I don't think I can SLI two 970 with this PSU and ofcz I won't be able to Crossfire two 290.

Btw with my experience I think that a FX-6300 won't bottleneck with a GTX 970, it will with a SLI/CF but I'm ok with that atm. Using with a GTX 760 the max usage of the CPU was 60%, it is very unlikely. I have nothing to complain about this processor. But yes, I wanna change to something better when DDR4 gets accessible.

So, what's better? a SLI/Crossfire? Or those and buy something instead of the other GPU in 6 months with max $600? (my gtx 760 is broken)

Wow, the consuption isn't bad. Maybe less than a 280x. Yeah, maybe a 970 SLI in the future. On eXtreme Power Supply Calculator two 970 needs 518W recommended at 100% load, two 770 needs 655W. This card consuption is so good or smth is wrong. I made my decision, but whats better in your opinion, ZOTAC, GALAX, Gigabyte or Zogis? Thanks for the infos.

never heard of zogis but the other three are pretty well known world wide (GALAX is the new name for Galaxy). personally i prefer Asus although depending on country the brand can be expensive (both Asus and Gigabyte can be quite pricey in my country).

Yeah, I think I'll go with Gigabyte bcuz its best known here. I have 62 hours to buy (the normal price is ~$630, I said that the market is crazy but I'm lucky today), so tomorrow I'll decide that. Thanks for spending your time helping me and have a nice day.
