It's really up to you, 660 is more powerful, but 750ti is newer tech, it draws less power and it's more efficient.
I'd still go with the 660 though.

Assassins Creed Unity is very unoptimised so even top end PCs get frame rate problems on low settings in that game. So the GTX 750 Ti will be a good performance boost over the HD 6770, but you wont be play AC Unity on very high settings until they fix there game.

Don't even try to play assassins creed unity, it is extremely poorly optimised and won't play without lag on even the greatest systems. Stop giving money to ubisoft.
Regarding the upgrade, you will get a performance increase, but I reccomend saving up more money, for a r9 280 or something that will last you longer. The increased video memory won't give you a very substantial increase in performance.

I have Samsung SyncMaster 22 inch LCD monitor which supports only VGA.
I think r9280 card supports HDMI.

Worst case get a VGA to HDMI, or DVI to VGA adapter.

You must consider that 660 uses more electricity, but if you have good enough PSU and you don't care about the power consumption that much, than 660 will be better.
I don't know lot about the various versions, but all of them should be close to each other and if you'll find OC version than that would be even better.

For Nvidia I would always go with a EVGA card if I have a choice.
