Should I use Crossfire or ditch my APU?

I was thinking about getting a graphics card for my desktop for gaming. I'm currently using the AMD A6-5400K which is able to use "dual graphics" which they recommend to use either an HD 6450 or 6570 for "optimal preformance". I was wondering if I should buy a better graphics card and ditch the APU part, or go with the 6570. Also, if you do think I should use a better graphics card, give me a recommendation as well.

Here are my specs:
AMD A6 5400K Trinity 3.6 GHz
8 GB ram @ 667MHz
MSI A78M-E35
Windows 7 64-bit

Tough call. Whatever you do, the CPU is a weak dual core.

You can get an R7 260X or a GTX 750 for under a hundred bucks. Those are way better than the A6's iGPU. I can't find anything substantial on how they compare to a crossfired A6 though.

Either way, you're squeezing some extra life out of a system that's near obsolescense because of the CPU. You might want to consider saving your pennies for an entirely new system.

If I got a R7 260X, could I be able to upgrade my CPU later on and would it be worth it? Maybe I should just buy a new quad-core processor and a graphics card in the R7 series for a bit more instead.

That would be a good idea!
You can get an Athlon 760k or 860k with your current motherboard. Those are pure CPUs, there's no iGPU. They are far from amazing, but a lot better than your current APU and you won't have to buy a new mobo. They're also quite inexpensive, and you can overclock them.
