SLI vs New Graphics Card

I still have a pretty new system it's about a year old. I am currently running the EVGA GTX 660 along with the motherboard ASROCK Z77 Extreme4. I was wondering if with all these sales it would be better to just go on ebay and buy another EVGA GTX 660 and do SLI, if so how much would my fps increase? Or just buy a new graphics card which could cost me 200+ im guessing?

Solution
I would SLI only if there are no single GPU cards that can do what you want to do (for example 1080p or 1440p @60fps). A 970 is more powerful than 2 660's when the latter have perfect scaling so a 970 would be a much better choice for overall smoothness of operation. Also, you might need a new PSU (I don't know your PSU, so I am assuming a worst case scenario) if you are going SLI 660's, you are much less likely to need one if you are going straight card to card swap.

TLDR: I would only go SLI if you 'have to', if you don't, single GPU is a smoother ride.

The price/performance ratio of the 970 and 290's are insane right now with all the sales. A second 660 might be worth if you can find a really cheap one, like $50 or so, but I wouldn't put too much more money into older tech because it will have even less resale value in the future.

Those are about 300 each if i'm correct right? So your saying those are better if i can't find 50 dollar for 660?
