Hey everyone,
I recently put together a large build but when I got to power it on, not much really happens. I have the Corsair AX 760i power supply fully modular and the maximus VII formula mobo. Everything is plugged in (correctly I assume), but when I go to power on the rig, only the simple LED's (i.e., Republic of Gaming logo, start button backlight, reset button backlight, CMOS button on I/O, and even the MPCIe card used for the wifi will turn on. No fans, H100i, gpu, etc. It's also strange that when I press the power button on my CM Storm Trooper, no LED's light up, and again no power. I've done a self test on the power supply, checked the 8 pin CPU connect (don't believe anything is wrong), and have been trying to search the internet for any help.

I've attempted to power on the mobo with shorting the power pins, I'm using the onboard "Start" button, no beeps are heard from the installed tiny mobo speaker, and I've even tried using a different power cable for the 8 pin CPU connector.

Any questions are welcomed as well.

Any thoughts or ideas are so welcomed at this point. Thanks

Solution
You use USB BIOS flashback like what I posted. It'll be before the BIOS stuff in the manual

Thats the point of USB BIOS flashback, you can flash the BIOS if it doesnt turn on

Ive tried shorting the power pins together to turn it on, but I'll probably take some things apart if need be. Would appreciated your continued help and ideas. Could this problem come from the CPU? And another interesting thought, would the USB ports still be able to power such things as a mouse or keyboard even without it booting up?

Alright, I went and grabbed some thermal compound and cleaning supplies to disassemble and reassemble. An out of the case test failed again. RAM switching and all that jazz was also done. I'll definitely be trying your PSU check to rule that out once and for all, but it's looking like I may have to get a replacement mobo. Would that be correct? I don't believe it is the CPU at this point. I hope ASUS is pretty good about sending replacements if that is the case. I'll post back with the PSU test and keep looking for your thoughts.

Might be. But BIOS 0496 isnt on the ASUS site

But if 0496 is the BIOS you'll have to use USB BIOS flashback to flash the BIOS. It needs BIOS 0501

Download the latest BIOS extract it rename it to whatever the manual says under USB BIOS flashback. Then copy it to a flash drive

You'll have to read the manual on what USB port to plug it into and what button to press to flash the BIOS

Alright. I checked in the manual about updating the BIOS, but all options kept referring to powering on the mobo for Ez mode, etc. etc., but I still can't turn anything on the mobo and get things working. Am I misreading something?

I went ahead and tried performing the flashback though. The flashback button never flashed like it was supposed to though. Nor did my flash drive light up to indicate activity. Could be a rough sign.

Yeah it was a little strange. I did as the manual said by downloading the file and name it the certain way, put it in the correct slot, and nothing happened after pressing that button for three seconds. After all of this being tested and tried, is it pretty much certain now that the mobo is faulty?
