I frankenbuilt a new system with a new mobo and processor.
The new mobo is a H81M-P33 that I got on sale for only 30$. The Processor is a Pentium G3280. I installed them into my older system but could not get it to boot. It would boot, go to the startup bios screen but restart randomly. I could never get past bios really. Even if it did get to the windows loading, it would just reboot. The power never actually went out though, so I don't think it is the PSU.
I breadboarded the Mobo and PSU and the fan stayed running with no issues at all. I heard no beeps and the system seemed stable. As soon as I hooked up the drive, the system booted, but eventually the CPU fan failed. It turned off, only to turn back on, like the system was restarting.
I tried another hard drive, admittedly just as old, and the same thing happened. My drives are a few years old, but worked with the older motherboard. Are they too old? What could be causing this?
