i have a intel duel core pentium e6700 3.2ghz
http://ark.intel.com/products/42809/Intel-Pentium-Processor-E6700-2M-Cache-3_20-GHz-1066-FSB?q=e6700
4gb memory 800mhz
Asus P5KPLAM-SE which i know is not best chip or board for o/c but all i have
its a revision v2.0 and running bios 0702.

bios allows preset 5 , 10 , 15 , 20 , 30% overclock. upto and including 15% is ok. rest crash system think its due to memory problems.
also allows setting cpu range 12 to 6 and manuel fsb and voltage changes. also other settings enable/disable exicute bit , vanterpull technology , cpuid ect. which i have no idea what they should be set at.

cpu has artic cooling fan system with apm control.
running windows vista 64bit.

tried manul setting when it had a different processor and got a e5300 2.6ghz to run at 3.3ghz.

need the best i can get out of this and what settings in cpu configuration bios to use as well as ram settings instead of auto that does not allow stability above a certain level.

core 0 and 1 run at 30 degrees celsius as standard and fan compensates ok. get a blue screen and memory dump and some times a overvoltage error.

running windows vista 64bit.

use prime95 stress test , hwmonitor , cpuid.

please can someone assist tried other o/c sights as well.

Also have a asus gt640 1gb gddr5 which i need toi overclock

Solution
No, not plenty power. You're making an assumption that the power supply is a quality unit, which it's probably not. You have not indicated either the brand, or the model number. None of those numbers above indicate who makes it or what model it is. There about six thousand PSUs on the market, none of them of any reliable quality, with atx-500 on the label. This should be a serious concern, especially when overclocking. A PSU of good quality is always important, far more than mainstream users have any idea about, but it's multiplied by about ten times when you start overclocking or adding high end graphics cards.

Just because the unit says it's 500w means NOTHING whatsoever. 90% of the power supplies on the market don't deliver anything...

500W

atx-500 RoHS

plenty power for system. using 1graphics card gt640 , 1 seagate barricuda 1tb hard drivk , on board lan , 1 standard atapi dvd rw drive.

only 4 usb ports out of possible connected on board. so very limited system. so plenty power

have it running stable at 3.7ghz now and thats limit with all at auto and manual set to 310 on cpu fsb rate.

setting multiplier between 6 and 12 has no effect it ignores this value and runs at auto only.

think when i go above 310 memory becomes unstable at auto.

2x 2gb ddr2 800mhz

dont know how to set memory spd/mhz/voltage to compensate. or cpu voltages

no longer overheats or goes above 54 degress when stress testing with prime95

contacted seller but told that it could be any kind of generic power supply.

basically now thinking of a new pc as mine as basically lived its course.

so will start looking for pc mb and cards that will allow me miracast , 3dvision 5.1 sound via hdmi arc cable as tried it all with current system and failed in all departments even after purchasing new operating system. :(
