Windows 7 or 8.1 for gaming, Winter 2014

I am building a PC (for gaming) soon, and I have friends who tell me to install Windows 7 because you can install it through USB, and it is simpler and can run games faster. I have other people that tell me to get 8.1 because it is updated more, and is the "newest and best" and will run games better. I'm lost. What should I do?

I say go for Windows 8.1, since you are building a new PC. Windows 8.1 has more features and better optimization than Windows 7. And, you can install Windows 8.1 via USB as well.

Well, compare the reasons...

Windows 7 better because you can install it in a different way.

OR....

Windows 8.1 because it's better.

Hmmm...

Windows 8.1 is better optimized for gaming nowadays so... yeah.
