Why does the a78m e45 support x-fire but not sli?

i am planning to buy a PC build for xmas and was looking at my motherboard it said it didn't support SLI but it said it supported x-fire. My plan was to buy a 7770 and then, next christmas, buy 2 geforce gtx 750 ti ftw 2 gig gddr5 and crossfire them.

Remember that one good GPU is always better than two lesser cards. If I was you, I would look into a 270x or even a 280x by AMD. And then next Christmas, just buy another one and crossfire them.

Will do, but what is the difference between SLI and x-fire?
I know they put 2 cards together to provide stronger graphics, but what's the difference?

SLI is what NVidia calls their multiple GPU technology, and Crossfire is AMD's. They are both the same concept, and pretty much work in the exact same way.
