How do I go about getting video games to run better on my laptop?

Hi guys. Sorry--I know this is probably an inappropriate place to post this so if I need to go somewhere else let me know. :bounce:

I have a laptop and it actually runs games fairly well. Most games I don't have an issue and can run them if they're on low or medium settings. Rarely can I get up to ultra. I want to know if it's more reasonable to get new parts for my laptop for gaming (and which ones?? I have no idea what parts will really affect performance- and graphics-wise..) or to just opt for the new console route (PS4).

It's a Lenovo y500 if that matters.
My specs:

GeForce GT 750M
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM
CPU @ 2.40GHz
8.1GB RAM

Can someone recommend a route to go? Is my laptop good enough to be worth buying new parts for it? I'm not going to buy a new laptop so the alternative would to say eff it and get a PS4.

As for the question, f*ck it and get a ps4

Spec wise your laptop is already ok but newer games demand better gpu's

Which not all laptops are capable or even worth the cost of upgrading since gpu upgrade for laptops are few which makes them more expensive

Gaming only requires 8gb of ram and your cpu is already decent

Plus, since laptops are compact then heat dissipation can be a problem as it ages and accumulate more dust inside which greatly reduce performance
