Can not watch Youtube/twitch/videos without in game lag. Maybe it is micro stuttering?

I have a GTX 680, soon 980 and my CPU is believed to be OCd to 4.1ghz. I might not have ocd correctly, though.

If I watch a livestream, a youtube video, etc. my games will ALWAYS lag no matter what game.*****

I believe this is because of hardware acceleration, am I wrong? What are the direct negatives of not having accel on?

Is it my ram? I have 8gb soon 16gb of DDR3 1600mhz ram.

Is it my vram? I have 2gb (gddr4? Dunno).

Thanks for the help!

***** Only games like Binding of Issac or reaaally low tier games don't lag. Even Dark Souls 1 lags. It almost feels as if I'm getting 20fps, i.e. in dragon age I go from 40+ fps to 20 or less. Even in games like DS1 Iget 58-55 fps when watching, but it feels like 40-30.

Hardware acceleration gets your gpu to help your cpu.

I've got no idea why you would have that 'on' for watching YouTube videos. Or even what software that you would have it 'on' in.

And I gather you are watching movies while you game. Which will add more load to your PC and so your game fps will decrease.

Instead of 'feeling' like you're only getting 20 fps why don't you use fraps to see what you are getting.

I don't watch movies, I was using netflix as an example. I usually only watch Twitch which uses Adobe, which has hardware accel.

And as I stated, I am getting 40, then it bumps down to 20 with videos running. When the framerate does not go down, it feels like 30-40fps.

It comes down to that, that simple?

I suppose my friend is just... ignorant because he has a 780 non ti and 'doesn't have lag'. Thanks!

The GPU probably isn't the issue. It could be your CPU. Which CPU do you have?
