Most of the time my new built computer with a SSD fails to boot on first try. When this happens it bleeps once then the hard drive light flashes and then cuts out, the computer switches off and I have to turn the power off and back on again to reset some times several times.

This may be a power issue or just a bios issue, what motherboard do you have in your system, also try resetting the bios, this can be done by removing the little button battery on your motherboard, this is located near the PCIE slots, wait a few seconds and then reinsert it again. (Make sure the PC is powered but shut down)

The motherboard is a ASUS sabertooth 990FX R2.0. Does removing the battery reset the bios or just the CMOS?,
I am thinking it might be a timing issue not allowing time for the SDD to power up.
