Opteron vs xeon processors. Does opteron have less performance than advertised?

We use xeon in our office servers and most deployments (as i know). And opteron processors are used in client deployments. Opteron processors are really cheap.

However, opteron uses 8 pile driver modules (8 floating point units, 16 integer units). My home PC's processor, fx-6300 uses 3 pile driver modules (6 cores), however lags behind 4-core 4th gen core i5 in real world tasks (according to ratings).

Accordingly, opteron 16-core should lag behind 8-core xeon as well, however i'm not sure that's the case.

Could it be one of the following scenarios:
1. Is there a performance adavantage for pile driver modules when run on linux (more than windows i mean, as almost every tests were run for windows). We pretty much know that opteron processors are doing ok.

2. Are pile driver modules doing ok because we use it for mostly database and java program running? But the core i5 (4 integer units) running on windows even overtook my fx-6300 (6 integer units).

3. Or is there an actual a performance lag by opteron processors even in linux, and we are not aware of it (highly unlikely ;) )

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't have newer opteron processors listed (ex: 6380) so cannot actually compare.
