I have heard software like ultramon and displayfusion, what I am wanting to do is very simple. My mom brought a 1440p monitor and I want to check it out and use my main video card to render the games, my 7870 has no vga port, but I have it connected to an old gt520 which does have a vga port. I'm of course eventually going to get a vga/dvi adapter, I just want to check this monitor out on more high end games using my main 7870 render it. Yes I am shooting for 1440p 60fps

I'm going to take a wild guess here and assume that the monitor does have different inputs, but you only have a VGA cable. Your graphics card (HD7870) should have come with a DVI to VGA adapter which you could use to test the VGA input of your new monitor.

There is no way to test the capabilities of your HD7870 through the VGA output of the GT520. You could uninstall the HD7870 and it's driver and replace it with your GT520, but you won't likely get any decent gaming test results using that card.

The simplest solution if you do not have a DVI to VGA adapter is to just wait until you do get a DVI or HDMI cable.

Yes it does, I am just looking for a workaround to try this monitor out until I get a cord. The monitor is vga only, and my 7870 doesn't support vga, although my gt520 does have a vga port and I am thinking maybe it could work as a glorified vga adapter.
