Hi, I am getting a new processor for gaming, and was wondering which would be better for me? I may overclock it down the road once it starts to get old.

Solution
The 4670k has been replaced by the 4690k. Same price, better TIM and slightly higher frequency.

The FX-8350 is a somewhat gimped (because of the shared cache etc), old octocore with terrible single threaded performance compared to the i5. Even worse, for the vast majority of games those 4 extra cores won't be doing anything at all. I'd only recommend it for budget workstations, because then you'd actually use all 8 cores.

In short, get the i5-4690k. It's pretty much the go-to CPU for gaming right now.

You can check LinusTechTips video where he compares this two cpu's. And the 4670k is clearly the winner, but not by much, So if you're just upgrading your cpu, then yes, go for intel. But if you are also planning on getting a gpu, I would suggest spending the extra money there.

the problem is is that "the money" is about 30 bucks. is it worth getting another cpu in 2 years bc you thought that it would be enough?
