I just purchase an MSI Z97i mini ITX motherboard and can't figure out what the problem is. I installed everything correctly I hope and once I placed the graphics card in and turned the system on everything powers up but nothing is being sent to my monitor.

Specifications:
Motherboard: MSI Z97I Gaming AC Mini ITX
CPU: i5-4430 Quad Core processor
Mem: 16GB kit DDR3 1333MHz Unbufd
Graphics: GeForce GTX 650 TI Boost
1 Sata Hardrive - 1 TB
1 Blue Ray DVDRW/CD
500 Watt PSU
BenQ XL2420TE 144Hz, 1ms High Performance 24-Inch Professional Gaming Monitor

Someone please help. Maybe I connected it wrong. I would hate that after spending this much money on a motherboard that the PCIe slot is bad.

Thanks

Yeah the "favourite" fail here is having the HDMI/DVI cable plugged into your motherboard rather than your graphics card. Really easy to do, especially if you have used the onboard graphics previously and it's definitely the first thing to check.
Then what Toxxyc said - try the onboard graphics and see if you can get an output that way.
