I have 2 WD750gb drives on a raid 1
and 2 WD1TB drives on a Raid 1

Is there a benefit to me configuring these drives in a Raid 10 configuration?

I imagine I would have to partition the 1TB drives to 750GB, but then could I still set up another raid 1 on the leftover 250GB space?

Solution
Not really, in your case you would end up with storage capacity of 1.5GB.

You get a bit more performace over a Raid-1 and better resilence, but will loose 250GB, as they drop back to the smallest drive.

So ..

Disk 1 and 2 are striped
Disk 3 and 4 are striped
DIsk 1/2 are mirrored by disk 3/4

I do believe raid 10 is safer then raid 1 . So yes it's nice to have. I think it will automatically select the first lowest compatible drive size.

But you will do fine with raid 1 and keep the 500gb.
