I have a 6 year old system running an i7 920 with 6gbs of corsair dominator memory and recently upgraded my video card to a gtx 970 all on an evga x58 SLI motherboard. My previous psu was a 1000w turbocool that just gave out and I need to replace it. My question is what's a good one to get given my rig setup and one that might last a couple years? Not looking for top of the line but something that could get me a couple more years until I construct a new rig.

That's what I was wondering as well. After experiencing bootup problems and unable to fix on my own I took it to a reputable local repair shop where they quicky identified the psu as being bad. They suggested I order a similar 1000w psu since my pc was running with one for 6 years. My pc has 6gb of ram which I'll eventually upgrade to 12, i7 920, a gtx 970, x58 SLI mobo, liquid cooled cpu, haf cooler master case. I thought I just needed one to run that and 1000w was a bit much but what would you suggest? Given at most I might SLI the 970 at some point if prices drop at the right time.
