Will a Phenom II x4 960T bottleneck a MSI 970 gtx

I had major issues with my sapphire R9 280x dual-x 3gb. I was getting DirectX errors in games and BF4 was crashing every round. I did clean driver installs (trying every catalyst going back to 13.9) , virus scans, monitored temps, clean boots, reinstalled BF4, updated directx/C++, checked all other PC components, reinstalled win7 ultimate 64 .......nothing stood out other than the crash and error report telling "Amdkmdap has stop responding and has been recovered". Then I ran 3dmark and furmark and the card failed to complete the tests, something went wrong. Tried my old AMD 5770, and played BF4 without any issues (other than low fps lol). Naturally I concluded my card was faulty, so I have a MSI 970gtx gaming 4gb just delivered here.
My question is will my AMD phenom II 960T x4 @ 3.0mhz bottleneck with it. If so how badly .... and I was expecting to grab a new cpu/mobo in 3 months. If I were to get the Intel 4690k with a MSI z97 gaming 5 mobo, I assume I would get a sufficient performance gain and eliminate any potential bottlenecking?
Any feedback would be appreciated ...thx.

You're correct. As you can see by my setup, I own the 4690. There is a 3 FPS difference between my i5 and a top of the line i7.

As far as your Phenom, yes you would have a bottleneck. Your FPS would be affected in a big way.

With something like a GTX 970, your FPS would still be high, but no where near as close if your were to get an i5.

I had considered a psu issue Damric, but I had also calculated my usage and I had plenty power left too from my corsair 650w which I believe to be sufficient for my system. Thats another reason why I got the 970 gtx, less power consumption, as would the intel cpu. Other than working from my component specs which seem good, is there any other way to monitor power consumption?
@Brillis Wuce - Yeah I think the i5 would be a good choice, I just needed a second opinion on that bottleneck issue which as you say will pinch my system with the 970gtx. Probably wise if I just go ahead with the new cpu/mobo. I dont wont to spend unnecessarily but I do need to update my cpu and this recent matter is a good cause to do so :) Cheers
