Hello everyone,

I already have a new gaming pc with i5 4690k, 8gb ram and a used gigabyte gtx 780 gpu which i found for a nice price ($210) and that cut the cost of pc much.

Now I want to build a second gaming pc for my brother and he would mostly use it for university and would like to play games as well but not really needed to be everything on high/ultra. So I searched for some part and found these sold used in UAE as ordering online would cost me shipping even new.

USED AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz with M5A78L-M/USB3 Board ($130)

USED ASUS Radeon R9 280X DirectCU II TOP ($150)

If i but these then I would only get hdd, 8gb ram, 750 w psu, cooler and case which would add additional $300. so total would be around $580 and would try to cut on price if possible. I did check some reviews that 8320 does run hot and I could overclock it to 4.0 GHz to have same performance as 8350 which I do not think necessary to buy.

So would this pc be decent for gaming and is the price good? If it won't live for 4+ years then I would go for an i5 4690k like my first pc and would check again for other parts. Thank you very much :)

That's rediculous. My AMD64 ran for 10+ years at 80c. Probably still works, it's in the closet. Core 2 duo still running my server since it came out. You have to try really hard to kill a modern CPU or board with really high voltage. It could possibly run for 25 years or more. Will it still be a viable gaming machine in 4 years? Probably not. Although you could say that about any new computer.

Yes i'm talking about gaming, it won't be able to play the latest titles 4 years from now enjoyably. However as an average, check your email/web browsing or mini workstation even, that i can see. (One of my relatives has a 8 year old computer and besides upgrading the CPU (pentium D to Core 2 Quad), it still runs great.

Hello,

Thanks TechyInAZ and Bezzell for your reply. I did a bit of more research and I guess it won't survive more than 3+ years gaming but might be 5 years for office work and multitasking because it is an 8 core cpu. So do you think the price is good for used cpu and gpu and overall built pc? If the offer is not good would the GPU atleast have a good offer on it and I should only get it used while other parts including cpu, mobo, etc new?

cpu is around $140 new and the mobo looks old or not even high end and it is sold $130 used with mobo. While gpu r9 280x is sold new for around $300 and used here around $150. So what do you think?

I would like to decide fast before someone buys it. Thank you very much :)
