That's not so good. A good psu is so worth the money in the long run. Does the psu have a six pin connector? You will need one for that card.

He's talking about your PSU brand. It's important to have a reliable PSU which will provide enough power for your system while at the same time not being a fire hazard.

have to check. But its a stock psu from a boxed desktop. Been working for about 7 months but now i'm getting paranoid.worked 7 years before upgrade

7 years! I think it's time for a PSU upgrade. Maybe if you had a decent unit it would work, but the prebuilt PSU is likely to be junk.

Yep, replace the PSU. HCL... never heard of them. They didn't bother to label the amps and rails specs on the side of the PSU, a big sign that it's a cheap unit. The PSU is the core of your system, if it overloads/fails not only can it take out the entire system with it, it can also start a fire. I would definitely get a new PSU.

I could suggest one if you gave me a budget for the upgrade.
