The title says it all. I'll aiming towards the MSI 970, because a LOT of people recommend it over any other 970s. I don't really like the red, but I won't be looking in my case enough to really care anyways. What would you suggest? What 970 would you go with?

Ha. This is probably the 1000th time I've gone over this, but I don't get tired of it.

MSI, Gigabyte, ASUS and EVGA are all great. You have a slim chance of getting a defective card with any of them.

Personally, I went with an EVGA SSC. It came at a stock speed of 1404 MHz, and I was able to overclock it past the 980 benchmarks.

BUT...you will hear a lot of talk about coil whine. When I first got the card, I experienced it (pretty badly), but I was just unaware. Use nVidia Inspector to set your FPS limit to your monitor refresh rate to prevent your FPS from getting up to 2000 FPS during cutscenes, which is what creates coil whine. No issues since then.

I'd personally go with EVGA or Asus...Asus if your more concerned about...

All are very good. The MSI and Asus have the zero rpm fan speed at idle, but the gigabyte g1 gaming and asus have backplates. You can't go wrong with any. For overclocking the MSI and gigabyte seem to do the best though.

Thank you for the answers! I was leaning towards EVGA before I heard about that coil whine. But setting my fps limit sounds like it would be fine. MSI or EVGA.. Hm. I guess we'll just see what's on sale/in stock! Either will serve me more than well, I'm sure.
