Just bought a new computer, (comes with windows8) and before i initialized it i added 3 of my hard drives. 2 of them are 4tb external wd Mybook HDD that i took out of their casing and added to my tower. 3rd was a new 6tb wd red drive.

Here is a ss of the disk managment.

Disk 0 = 6tb red wd drive (i obv need to format since new hdd)
Disk 1= 4tb wd mybook drive ( shows up in my computer, but inaccessible)
Disk 2= Windows Drive (came with tower)
Disk 3 = 4tb wd mybook drive (nothing)
Disk 4 = idk

I reallly dont wont to format since i bought this computer to use as a media server. Anyone know how i can access at the one that is readable? Do i need to do windows updates? Can i downgrade to win7 to fix this? Were the external hard drives not meant for internal use with sata?

Hey Sebaka. I'm sorry to have to say it, but you won't be able to use the WD My Book drives as internals. It is never recommended to open up the enclosures because that voids the warranty, but also, those drive are hardware encrypted and you won't be able to use them as internal HDDs unless you format them first. So in order to get your data back I'd suggest that you connect them to their enclosures again and backup all the important files you may have (make sure that you use the correct enclosure for each drive for better chance of success).
As for the WD Red drive just go ahead and initialize it. Here's how to do that: How to initialize or write a signature to a secondary hard drive or Solid State drive in Windows (8, 7, Vista...

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.
