I'm having an issue when I'm overclocking my FX6100. I can't get this thing to be stable unless I'm cranking the voltage past 1.5volts for JUST 4.2ghz. I've read many other forums and they're able to OC the exact same cpu up to 4.5+ghz at lower voltage. Any advice for a rookie overclocker would be appreciated.

not all cpu's OC the same. You have just got a cpu that doesnt OC well if you have to pump that much voltage to get it stable. I wouldnt bother throwing any more money at the system, the 6100 cpu (and all 1st gen bulldozer cpu's) is a notably bad performer for games even when overclocked. One thing you could try is disabling cores. You may just have 1 core/module that doesnt like to OC well and becomes unstable easily. Sometimes its better to have less cores and more clock speed depending on the app.
