Hello Boys and ... well boys i guess,

What would you advice as a motherboard for 2x GTX 980?

List below:
http://de.pcpartpicker.com/user/stormflakes/saved/9QDhP6

just needs SLI and 4790K cpu compatibility.
No other bells and wistles needed.
Also, i might just try my hand at overclocking, if i can pull it out of my pants first ( worst joke of the day, hands down ) <-- hihi

I plan on using fractal R5 and noctua DH15 so i might offset the centre of the earth slightly.
If your goldfish starts swimming the other way without good reason, like a hunting shark for example, you know it was me ... and i'm sorry.

Solution
The 1.5V is just the default. Most all memory higher than 1866MHz runs at a higher voltage than 1.5V. It is easy enough to set it up and even down if needed. Enabling XMP Profile1 in BIOS will usually set up the memory to advertised speeds and voltages. You will probably have to OC the CPU some for memory faster than 1866MHz.

hehe i just said MOBO is spooky and now a guy named spooky answers :) what are the odds.

Thanks for the tips on these mobo's i think gigabite is better with the noctua air-cooler after some reading up. Seems they use premium quality components whereas Asrock has good but flimsy materials. Will look into those for sure.

Another short question. The G-skill memory i selected runs on 1.6V. Intel haswell CPU's only go up to 1.5V according to PC-partpicker. Need i be worried or is this just some hocus-pocus with numbers i can ignore?

Thanks a lot, you are one wise mr. spooky. I was planning on going oc on my GPU but might just try it with CPU as well. You are my hero. well, you and ironman.
But for all i know you are ironman ...

Tony?

is clocking a cpu harder than clocking a gpu? i haven't done either, but for some reason the cpu scares me a bit.
If i were to oc my gpu and leave the cpu unchanged, would that affect fps much?

Yes, you can just OC the GPU to raise FPS. For best results an OC of the CPU too helps. OC'ing the memory is debatable. While you can get a small handful of more FPS from a memory OC, it isn't much to talk about.

Check out the overclocking forums here at Tom's. There's a wealth of info.
