I never even noticed the lack of digital audio output on my gaming 5. I can say that i have never used it from a pc since I use hdmi which caries the sound. if you plan on using it to your surround sound, then i guess it's worth it for you. I assume your also using hdmi with your 27" hd monitor more than likely it has the digital output to run the sound from it to the surround sound. if this is not the way you want to use it then your good to go with the gaming 7.

there is nothing wrong with the build as is if it meets your needs. I think your ready to pull the trigger and order the parts and begin enjoying it. :)

You do realize that a 512GB SSD on a EU store would run something like € 280 (approx. $350 US) for any decent one right? That's a significant chunk of the budget right there that could be better spent on processor and/or graphics. Plus a single GTX 980 would struggle on 4K, even dual SLI has a hard time with that resolution.

personally, i think its a great build, and a very common one. take any suggestions for what they are worth. the cpu and mobo are common pairings and work well together. you could save money by going to the gaming 5 and lose minimally. there isnt a huge difference between the 5 and 7. between them, there is less SATA, usb, etc type of connections. also, the 7 has the OC knob on the MOBO whereas the 5 doesnt, but if you dont plan on using that, you could save yourself a bit if none of that matters. in fact, you could save even more by going to the gaming 3.

I am from Slovenia (near Italy, Austria and Croatia) and i havent yet decided which store im buying this from. I will probably go with the store in my town (local patriotism:)) if they offer me a decent deal.

So I need better PSU? More power or better qualitly?
About HDD - I have 2TB external hdd so i thought selected one would be sufficient.

Thank you for your time!

Hey,
i switched SSD to CRUCIAL M550 256GB 25/S600 (150,91€/ $188). Is that better or is 512 amusthave?

I'm using 27" hd1080p, but im thinking about buying another one or different&better one.

Anyway, when i play games i like to play it on best gaphics, max detail etc, thats why i thought 980 would be good investment in that regard.

Thank you for your advice!

I'd swap the PSU for a EVGA 750W G2 full modular unit otherwise that looks good.

lol, now i dont know what to do, i was in my local store today and they adviced me to lower the psu to 500 watts because unused power sort of damages the unit (calculated need would be araund 350-380 W)...what now? ;)

that's just not true. unused power is simply that UNUSED!!! hooking up a 1500 watt psu to a system that only uses 250 watts will run into under current issues but that's not the case here. the normal recommendation is to have about 80-85% of the rated watts being used at most. their 500 watt recommendation is right on this 80% usage idea.

think about it this way, if you ran your car at full revs all the time what would happen? it would not last long and would probably fail pretty quickly. this is the same for your psu. running the psu at max all the time will lower it's life a lot. but running it at that 80% range will allow each part to get its full need plus keep the psu from running all out all the time.

the 650 watts you have now is more than you need, only using about 62% of it's max and you could get away with 500-550 watts easily but it won't damage the system in any way to run 650 watt psu. choice is your. if the price is good check out the same brand you have now at 500-550 watts. if the 650 is cheaper or the same price then go for it.

You could, having more wattage will make things easier to add a second GPU later. I would not move to a lower quality unit however. You want the best power supply you can get - the EVGA G2/P2 series, Seasonic X series, and Corsair AXi series are the best power supplies you can get. It's not about wattage, it's about the quality of the unit. Having more wattage helps, but having less wattage can hurt.

Yeah exactly you could have a 1KW PSU for a system that only draws 425W but then you will have a lot of unused power just going unused.
