nVidia GTX 970 - Power Supply Question - PC not Posting

Just purchased a Gigabyte GTX 970 (GV-N970IXOC-4GD). It has an 8-pin PCI-e Power Connector, which my Rosewill Xtreme 750W apparently doesnt have. The power supply only has two sets of 6-pin PCIe connectors among many others.

In the Gigabyte GTX 970 Box - they included an 8-pin to 2x LPT4 adapter (I think - it looks like what I plug my case fans into), which I tried using however my PC wont post. I'm not 100% sure its a power supply issue but it's my first thought. Upon booting, it freezes immediately - can't even get into BIOS. All fans are running - even on the video card, just not posting.

Any help/suggestions are helpful - I think I need a different adapter to make this work. I've heard there are 8-pin to (2x) 6-pin PCIe Adapters. Might those work?
I'd like to avoid buying a new PSU if possible.

A little about my system:
Mobo - MSI H61M-P31 (G3)
Core i5 /8GB Ripjaws
Rosewill Xtreme 750W PSU

Thanks,

It needs an 8 pin or 6+2 to work... Unless you have molex connections that might work. Not guaranteed though

The 8-pin to (2x) 6-pin PCIe Adapters might work, but I woudn't risk it especially that you have a new card. It is recommended to Better spend a little extra for a better PSU than risk on frying up your system.

I have another PC that is running a 600W - Thermaltake - TR2-600NL2NC .This does have a 6+2 rail, however would 600W be capable of handling a single GTX 970? I am thinking I can just switch them

970 needs 500W minimum... to be sure if your whole other system could handle it: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

This gets you close, but it's safe to go for 50-100W over what this suggests

So I plugged in my 600W that has the 8-pin connector. Getting the same issue - doesnt post - literally freezes even before the MSI screen pops up. Pretty sure its a dead card? Cant think of any other issues.
