Just installed NOCTUA nH D14 but a couple of things

I use it for my i7 4970k applied their thermal paste and fitted it correctly
idle temps: 27-32
gaming: 30-45
rendering (full load, 100%): 50-74

when i bought my heatsink and fan it said in the description quiet fans?
how come i can hear them? they seem quite load haha so i dont understand
and are them temps good for my processor.

Yeah the temps are good. and they are still fans. They still will move and make noise even if they are supposed to be silent. Something that is moving isn't going to be silent :). Just turn up the music :) On a more serious note are both your side panels on?

Not everything you find will perform as advertised. Especially when they say 'quiet' when 'quiet' really is up to anyone's interpretation.

But in general, the faster a fan spins, the more noise it will make. No fan is completely silent. Noctua's fans are considered good.

Best you can do is to use something like SpeedFan to control how fast the fans spin, to reduce the noise.

Temps look fine to me.

I'm not too fussed about the noise really but I thought it was supposed to be really quiet haha anyway cheers for posting dude
I may look at SpeedFan
