I want to play games like COD Advanced Warfare, AC Unity and future games like The Witcher 3.Up Until Now I can play Watch Dogs, Far Cry 4 on lowest spec. But Right now I have budget to upgrade only one either CPU- AMD FX-8350 or GPU- SAPPHIRE R9 270X 4GB GDDR5.Which one would boost my performance the most so that I can play these games at least on med spec until I get the other one?
Current Spec
CPU - Intel Pentium G620 2.60Ghz
GPU - SAPPHIRE HD6450
Ram - Corsair Vengence 8 GB

Again Changing which will boost my performance most for now?

the cpu is your weakest point right now. problem is, to upgrade it you will also need a new mobo. the fx cpu needs a completely different socket than the intel chip which will drive up the cost some.

would not recommend a new chip for your current mobo as they are costly and not worth the prices.

therefore, if your budget is this limited, the 270x would be the best bet until you can upgrade both your cpu and mobo.

last question is about your power supply. is this a prebuilt machine with a weak psu? or is the a home built with a decent one? the 270x takes 2 6 pin connectors which a weak psu won't have. you need to check that out before buying anything.

we can help if your unsure, post your specs as is. open the case and post the psu model number and we can offer some options for you.

Call of Duty is horribly optimized fore pc and I wouldn't get it because it is way too demanding. AC Unity's engine is borken and you won't be able to run it either way (or even with both). Watch Dogs is still too demanding either way. Far cry, while not having as many optimization issues, would still be too hard either way.

From the looks of it, you are going to need to upgrade CPU and GPU. Nothing in your price range will be able to play these games (while being enjoyable).

Honestly the ps4 is a better choice for the types of games you want to play.

You NEED a new CPU. The new line of Intel CPUs use socket 1150. Your current chip is socket 1155. If you upgrade your CPU first, you will also need a new motherboard. This will range in price depending on how powerful you want your CPU to be. A decent combo to upgrade your CPU will be around 300 $$. OR you can get a new graphics card which will improve your game performance extremely. I recommend getting a new CPU, Mobo, and Graphics card.

For gaming, don't even take the slightest thought about amd. An I3 with a b85 board would be ccheaper than a fx 8350 outperforming it in most games. Better yet, an I5 4460 for the same price as 8350. Anyway, just a cpu or gpu upgrade actually won't yield you much benefit. But if you want to upgrade, you'd benefit more of a new cpu.

Incorrect my friend. For gaming, ALWAYS think about AMD. Video games love using as many cores as possible. AMD's FX-8350 clocked at 4 GHz is an amazing cpu when it comes to gaming. That's even overkill. The FX-6300 is a good and cheap way to game when paired with a nice GPU for almost all current games that are out. You will not see any difference in performance and frame rates. You can overclock the CRAP out of AMD and it is wayyyyyyyy less expensive than an i7 and even an i5.

I can't decide whether to be amused or disappointed about your last post. Mostly because it is absolutely wrong and the argument of "oc'ing the crap out of amd" yet won't make any of those faster than the 9590 which you often see to be beaten by I3's and always by I5's.

Either way, you better go and check some benchmarks. Also, I5 4460 + b85 board go for $230 together. 8350fx + 125w tdp board go for $270. Plus the cost of a good cooler to oc it makes $350. Great, now spent $120 extra for subpar gaming performance. And if you want to oc to like 4.8ghz, you'll need a $70 for a better board. $190 spent for subpar gaming performance

Video games only use 4-6 corers in general. Old games use 2 for the most part.

You have CPU based on the Ivy Bridge generation Intel CPU which are socket 1155. The current Haswell generation Intel CPUs are socket 1150. Assuming the same clockspeed, the difference between a 3rd and 4th gen Core i3/i5/i7 CPU is roughly 6% on average.

It is possible to simply install a 3rd gen Core i5 CPU (like the i5-3570) in the motherboard if the BIOS of the motherboard is setup to recognize the other socket 1155 CPUs. If this is a custom built PC, then chances are decent that you can upgrade, but it depends on the make and model of the motherboard. If it is a brand name PC like Dell or HP, then the chance to upgrade is significantly reduced since they do not program the BIOS to recognize many CPU models.

Most games only use two cores. Of course there are specific games that can use 4 cores. There are a few games that can use more than 4 cores, but only in multiplayer mode like in BF3 and BF4. However, a quad core Intel CPU and generally perform better than an 8 core AMD CPU in those instances because of how Intel CPUs are designed and how they operate. Hence, they cost more than AMD CPUs.
