Best graphics card for an old system

Hi,

I bought my PC years ago and it came with a GT220 graphics card.
I would like to upgrade my GPU and want to know what is the best one to go with my current system:

Motherboard: MSI G41M-P33 Combo
CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q9400
PSU: CoolerMaster G650M

I know my hardware is old and outdated, and will probably bottleneck the best graphics cards in the market, but I don't have the budget to change everything or buy a whole new PC at the moment. I only want to upgrade my GPU for now.

May I know what is the best DX11 graphics card that my system can handle? Would GTX660 or 750 Ti be too much bottleneck?

Thanks!

Abel

Having had tested both out I would definitely go for te 750Ti for an older system. The MSI 750Ti Gaming are the ones that I used and I was very impressed with it for something that needs no external power and is usually dead quiet.

Your CPU could probably handle any GPU below the Radeon HD 7790 or the GeForce GTX 750 (non Ti). Anything above, and it will probably start to bottleneck.

I have a Intel Core i5-650 and a Radeon HD 7790. I am able to run BF4 great on medium, and fine on high. So, the card was a good match for my CPU. Now here is my CPU vs your CPU. As you can see, they are about equal, therefor, you should be able to run the HD 7790.

Now, the rest of your system should be able to run a HD 7790, since it has enough power in the PSU and a PCI-e x16 2.0 (like me) on the mobo.

My only worry is, is that the rest of your system might bottleneck the card. Like HDD speeds, or RAM speeds (and amount).

Hey guys, so I found out that some of the latest graphics cards might need me to "Flash my BIOS". After reading about it, I think it is best I avoid having to do that.

Does anyone know the latest graphics card that I can use that would NOT require me to flash my BIOS? Would the GTX660 or 750 Ti require me to do so?
