my cpu is overheating quite a bit especially when i play games. my idle temps are around 40 C but can rise to over 90C during intense gameplay. im suspecting my cooler being a problem. it is a corsair H60. also, im contemplating if it is the size of the computer case because it's pretty small. there is no problem with the air flow.

here is my build, please tell me if there is anything wrong with it:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

special thanks to speccy for the above

Your RAM is definitely wonky, but upgrading it shouldn't make your cpu run any cooler. More/faster RAM should enable it to run faster-generating even more heat.

I concur with your assessment that something is wrong with your temps. Your cooler ought to be able to keep your cpu much cooler. First, I would want to be sure that the thermal paste between your cpu and...

Since you are an intense gamer, try upgrading your RAM with another identical one, so that they operate in dual channel mode. This will give you a much smoother running with your high specs and will put much lower stress on your system and should result in a cooler computer. Also give the PSU, cooler and cpu/gpu fans a thorough check to see if they are running properly. Also try opening one side of your cabinet and see if it helps since bad cbinet design may also be responsible.

First, I would want to be sure that the thermal paste between your cpu and cooler is properly applied. If your cpu temp reads high but your cooler is not hot then you know heat is not being transferred properly. Second, even though you said there is not problem with air-flow, that is what I would check. How many fans are drawing air in and how many exhausting? Which direction is your H60 blowing? Is it drawing in hot air off of the PSU or GPU?
