First time builder here. I have a design in place for a new computer that I would like to build, but I'm unsure if I should go ahead with it, or if there is an alternative that is cheaper/better performance.

This is it so far:

Cpu: AMD FX-8350 4.0

Cpu Cooler: Corsair h100i

Mobo: AsRock 990FX Killer

Ram: G.skills Ripjaws series 2x4gb

Storage: Hitachi Travelstar 5k1000 1TB

Graphics: Geforce GTX 970 4gb

Case: Rosewill Thor V2 ATX Full tower

Psu: XFX 850W

Monitor: Asus VG248QE

OS: Windows 8.1

Should I go ahead and buy the parts for this or is there a better alternative?
If you guys do have alternatives, my budget is around $1500 including monitor and os. I'm looking to game, watch a bit of youtube and maybe do a little bit of video rendering/editing.

Thanks, any suggestions are helpful!

Thanks for the reply! A couple of questions though. Firstly will i be able to oc this build effectively? Secondly, what's the difference between the i7 and the fx8350? I understand that the intel cpu has more powerful cores, but is the trade off really worth $150?

Again thanks for the reply!
