How to downgrade RAM on Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0?

Hey guys, I got my hands on a Asus Sabertooth and I have some 2400 DDR3 RAM but the computer says it only supposts 1866 DDR3 RAM. How would I downgrade the RAM to 1866?

I'm sorry I'm not extremely tech savy, this is my first time building and I don't want to fuck it up. Is it going to be obvious on where I change it in the BIOS? And can I have the RAM in while booting up and changing to 1866?

Can you describe that sentence more precisely? You mean mobo guide say so or you start the PC and BIOS throws the message or...?

Generally even if the RAM is 2400 Mhz it should be able to run slower without any problems.. its a matter of xmp or other type of profile settings... and it should be done automatically by the BIOS. I know overclocking is an issue but with downclocking I'm surprised.

Okay, I just wanted to make sure and know how to do it. My MBO is here but I can't pick it up from UPS yet. So I haven't tried. But I will later and will be on here to let y'all know! Thanks for the help. I hope I don't destroy something.
