- Click that "Resource Monitor" button on the Task Manager > Performance tab, it will launch the Resource Monitor program that has a better list of what programs are running in your PC.
- Second, 1.5Gb of memory can be really short for today's modern(bloated) software. Your 3d model may have increased in size as well, so that your 3d program filled what used to be a 'good enuf' memory space.
- Have you installed any new software? Any changes in your pc?
- There's this command line that can help purge your memory.. what you do is create a shortcut, copypasta this to the location:
%windir%\system32\rundll32.exe advapi32.dll,ProcessIdleTasks
...then name the shortcut maybe "Clear/Purge Mem"
My laptop is quite old...2006 model I believe, I actually had its memory increased a bit awhile back, haha. The model size hasn't changed at all, I'm working with textures which aren't so heavy. I could run Firefox, the 3D software, and Inkscape sometime back--I wonder what the hell is going on now.
I haven't installed any new software.
What will the purging do exactly?
Also, I read on another forum that by going to msconfig > Boot > advanced options... > maximum memory, you can set the maximum memory windows uses or something--would this help or can it do more harm than good?
Thanks.
