Hello everybody, I have a question. Recently I built a htpc with a Intel Pentium Processor G3258.
Around the web i have been seeing some people overclocking this little processor for some extra performance. The motherboard installed in my build is a ASUS Mini ITX H97I-PLUS. Could I overclock this processor with this motherboard. I asked some guys at Fry's and they said it was risky to overclock on this motherboard and i may end up damaging it. Whats your opinion? Thanks

The H97I-PLUS can be overclocked after the latest BIOS update but some people have reported that it's a hit and miss. Some are able to change the multiplier but the CPU won't be able to use it(not reaching the desired clock speed). Others have said that it works.
My recommendation would be to update the BIOS and see if you can get a overclock out of it. If it won't then you should change the motherboard or just not overclock.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to overclock your processor with a H97 chipset board. Some BIOS version might allow you to play with multipliers, but in fact the speed clock of your processor will be locked a stock speed. Also, the 4+2 power phase design wouldn't allow you to overclock safely.
