Freeze followed by buzzing sound

11 months ago i purchased an XFX 7870 XT Graphics card and i have been experiencing Freezing with a loud buzzing sound every now and again, i just thought there was a corrupted file on my hard drive and didn't really think any more about it, however after 4 fresh windows installs on my computer and the problem not going away (and recently becoming more frequent) i am starting to believe there is a problem elsewhere and i think it might be the GPU (crossing fingers that its not) but are my suspicions right?

What do you guys think?

i whacked the aa up to 8 and all it did was heat up to 89 degrees and styed there, i didnt find any stability issues on it, GPU usage was 99%

there was rubbish airflow at first with just on fan at front and from what i have read this card runs hot anyway so i added 2 extra fans

1x 120mm stock fan in front (blowing in)
1x140mm aerocool shark fan at side blowing towards GPU
1x 92mm arctic cooling f9 (exhaust fan)

runs games like nba 2k15 at 720p max settings at about 65 degrees

hey man, sorry i have only just got this, my psu is an OCZ CoreXtreme 500w PSU and whilst that was my first suspicion i does happen on both heavy and light loads, it could be during a game or just on the desktop or when it is shutting down
