Random blue screens intermittently occuring on startup after windows loading

Hi all,

I have been having a few problems with my PC on start up recently. The BIOS loads no problem, gets to the 'windows is starting up' screen but then often crashes before the log in screen, giving varying blue screen stop codes. today I got a 'fatal system error' c000021a code (though I did install a windows update yesterday), but before I have had two different ones (afraid I cant remember them off the top of my head). If it loads to the log in screen the system is fine and rarely crashes once running (though having said that I have had a couple of freezes). I ran a chkdsk and it found no errors. I replaced the motherboard about a month ago, I am worried in case it is a hardware problem.
This is my setup:
Windows 7 Ultimate Edition
Gigabyte 970A-3DUP
AMD FX8320 stock clock
MSI HAWK R9 270X
Crucial 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Ballistix Sport Memory
Seagate Desktop SSHD 1000GB

Any insight into possible problems would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Edit: Had a quick read of this guide:(http://www.acmehowto.com/howto/pc/problems/diagnosis.php)
It seems to suggest that problems during the OS loading are unlikely to be hardware related?

It could be the memory. Run a memtest and see how it runs.
You can also load Ubuntu onto a CD or USB and boot into it. Navigate around Ubuntu for 15 minutes and see if your PC crashes. This will completely take Windows out of the picture and tell you whether its a software or hardware issue on your hands.

I did a memory test, 2 sweeps and 0 problems.I think the memory is fine. I shall spend some time at the weekend trying your suggestion, will probably post tomorrow or sunday night to feedback. Cheers!
