Dear readers,

Yesterday when I started putting in my new Motherboard, processor and RAM, I think I put something in incorrectly as smoke started coming out of of the corner where my CD tray was. I immediately unplugged it and unplugged it from the CD-tray and the hard drive. The next day I did it once more and it looked like it was starting to do it again. I am new to putting together parts of a computer, but to the best of my ability I put everything in correctly. The only thing that I am unsure of is the Power button to the motherboard cord. Help or suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Best regards,
Domenico Pelliccia
My motherboard is a Gigabyte 78LMT-Usb3
CPU: FX 4130
PSU: 500 watt, ATX12V
RAM: Kingston 4GB DDR3 1333 (x2)
Form Factor: Micro ATX

You really should of done your homework before tinkering around in a PC. I wouldn't open a cars hood to work on the engine unless I knew what I was doing to some degree... You could of seriously damaged/destroyed your components......

Wow smoke? That could be catastrophic! The best advice I can give is to unplug the machine, and lookup on youtube some complete first pc build guides. Follow along STEP-by-STEP, however something could of been damaged badly if smoke was coming out, most likely relating to something related to the power supply.

That's odd. The only thing that was replaced was the motherboard and the processor. I don't think that an upgrade in just those two components would be that drastic of power usage. I just did that, it was smoking again. Any other suggestions?
